Ryan McCaffery, a 37-year-old former high school teacher and soccer coach from Riverhead, New York, has been indicted for crimes related to child sexual exploitation. The investigation revealed that McCaffery posed as a teenage boy on social media platforms like Snapchat and Kik to solicit nude images from underage girls and shared explicit images of himself. He was also found to have attempted to buy and view more abusive images.
The case came to light after tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and subsequent police investigations, including a search of McCaffery’s home and digital devices. He had been previously investigated in 2023 for similar behavior.
McCaffery faces multiple serious charges, including promoting a sexual performance by a child, attempting to use a child in a sexual performance, disseminating indecent material to minors, possessing such material, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested in May 2025 and arraigned in June 2025. He is held on bail and could face up to seven years in prison if convicted. The case continues, and authorities urge anyone who interacted with him to come forward.
