BELLPORT MAN INDICTED FOR EAST PATCHOGUE MURDER

Darrell Trent, 46, of Bellport, was indicted for Second Degree Murder in connection with the May 2025 killing of Carlos Bonaparte, 45, in East Patchogue. The incident occurred when Trent allegedly attacked Bonaparte with a crowbar outside his home, in front of Bonaparte’s young daughter, resulting in Bonaparte’s death. Trent fled to Ohio but was arrested there on May 23, 2025. He was arraigned and ordered held without bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for July 2, 2025. The case is being prosecuted by Suffolk County authorities.
