BAY SHORE MAN ALLEGED TO HAVE KILLED A COWORKER WITH A MACHETE AND SHOT AT RESPONDING OFFICERS INDICTED FOR MURDER AND ATTEMPTED MURDER

Nieves Reyes, a 48-year-old from Bay Shore, was indicted for murdering his former coworker, Eugene Allen, and for firing at police officers during a violent standoff. Reyes allegedly attacked Allen with a machete before his body was found in a wooded area. During the police raid at Reyes’ home, he fired multiple shots, hitting an officer in the face and wounding another officer. Reyes faces serious charges, including murder and attempted murder, and could face 40 years to life in prison if convicted. He was arraigned and is currently remanded, with a court date set for September 3, 2025.
