GUATEMALAN NATIONAL INDICTED FOR NARCOTICS DISTRIBUTION

Wilmer Castillo Garcia, a 22-year-old Guatemalan national, was indicted in Suffolk County for selling narcotics, including cocaine and marijuana, to an undercover officer. He is also charged with endangering children after allegedly providing THC gummies that hospitalized 12 middle school students. Due to New York State's bail laws, Castillo Garcia was released on his own recognizance despite concerns about his ability to flee the jurisdiction. He is scheduled to return to court in September and faces up to nine years in prison if convicted.
