MANHATTAN MAN INDICTED FOR ALLEGEDLY STABBING OFF-DUTY NYPD OFFICER

A Manhattan man, Royal T. Hooks, 28, has been indicted for allegedly stealing property from a vehicle and stabbing an off-duty NYPD officer during a pursuit in Lindenhurst. The incident occurred on October 9, 2025, when Hooks was caught rummaging through vehicles and fled upon being confronted. During the chase, Hooks brandished a knife and stabbed the officer in the leg. He was held at the scene until Suffolk County police arrived. Hooks was arraigned on charges of second-degree assault and petit larceny and is awaiting trial, facing up to 7 years in prison if convicted.
