Aqeel Ahmad, a 53-year-old Pakistani national, was indicted for unlawful surveillance after allegedly using his cellphone to take photos of a 13-year-old girl’s intimate areas under her dress while she was shopping at Target in Selden. The victim’s father noticed Ahmad crouched next to his daughter and confronted him; Ahmad fled but was later found in the parking lot. Police recovered the phone and found that Ahmad had deleted the incriminating image. Ahmad was arraigned on multiple charges, including unlawful surveillance and endangering a child, and is awaiting further court proceedings.
