BROOKLYN MAN SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS IN JAIL FOR ILLEGAL AMATEUR CAR STUNT THAT SERIOUSLY INJURED BYSTANDER

Matthew Mitchell, a 20-year-old from Brooklyn, was sentenced to two years in jail after pleading guilty to causing serious injury to a woman during illegal car stunts in Patchogue in October 2024. He struck a 19-year-old woman with his car while performing dangerous maneuvers and then fled the scene. The victim suffered a fractured pelvis and femur. Mitchell's license was revoked at the time, and he had been suspended six times. He was arrested in October 2024 and pleaded guilty to charges including assault and leaving the scene.
