GUATEMALAN NATIONAL SENTENCED TO 23 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING HIS STEPDAUGHTER

A Guatemalan man, aged 40, was sentenced to 23 years in prison after being convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing his stepdaughter over five years. The victim, who was six when the abuse began, did not realize it was wrong until she was nine. She disclosed the abuse in 2023, leading to the defendant’s arrest. The case was prosecuted by Suffolk County DA’s office, and the defendant, who had been previously deported in 2006, will also face deportation proceedings after serving his sentence.
