Jonathan Shaver, 51, of Rocky Point, was indicted for leaving the scene of a fatal crash on William Floyd Parkway, where he hit two men working on a disabled vehicle. One man, Edgar Mejia, 31, was killed, and the other was critically injured. Shaver allegedly fled the scene without helping the victims. Video evidence linked him to the crash and showed him visiting various locations beforehand. Shaver was arrested the day after the crash and his vehicle, damaged and missing a headlight, was recovered. He faces charges of leaving the scene, with potential prison time if convicted, and is due back in court on March 10, 2026.
