District Attorney Tierney praised the bravery of three men who testified about enduring abuse by Thomas Bernagozzi, a former teacher and mentor in the Bay Shore School District, who was revealed to be a prolific serial pedophile. Although Bernagozzi had previously evaded prosecution due to statute of limitations issues, he was finally held accountable for his crimes. Tierney commended the prosecutors, legal team, and police for their dedication in achieving justice after many years.
