Melissa Koprowski, a 31-year-old woman from Yaphank, New York, has been indicted on multiple charges, including Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Vehicular Manslaughter, in connection with a fatal car crash on November 22, 2024. The incident occurred when Koprowski allegedly made a left turn in front of oncoming traffic while driving intoxicated, resulting in a head-on collision with a Nissan Rogue. This crash killed 75-year-old Esther Guy and injured the driver, while a two-year-old child in the backseat was unharmed.
Following the accident, Koprowski was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and showed signs of intoxication, leading to her arrest. She has been charged with several offenses, including DWI and Reckless Driving, and was ordered held on $200,000 cash bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for February 5, 2025. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney MacDonald Drane, and the investigation was conducted by Detective Brian Whitehead from the Suffolk County Police Department.
