ARIZONA MAN CONVICTED OF MURDER FOR THE 2022 FATAL SHOOTING ON A LONG ISLAND RAILROAD TRAIN

Nicholas D’Agostino, a 21-year-old from Arizona, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Yusef Staine on a Long Island Railroad train on February 16, 2022. D’Agostino shot Staine in the back of the head and then fired a second shot into his torso after missing their stop. Following the shooting, he fled the scene using a Lyft and later a Greyhound bus back to Arizona. D’Agostino was arrested in Yonkers on May 18, 2023, after an extensive investigation.
He faces a sentence of 20 years to life in prison and is scheduled for sentencing on March 10, 2025. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys from the Homicide Bureau, while the investigation was conducted by the Suffolk County Police Department and Metropolitan Transit Authority Police.
