Marianne Mkrtchian, a 19-year-old woman from North Bellmore, has been indicted on multiple charges, including Assault in the Second Degree, for her alleged reckless driving that led to a serious injury of a Good Samaritan in North Babylon. On August 27, 2024, Mkrtchian was reportedly driving a Mercedes Benz at high speed when she ran a stop sign, crashed into a telephone pole, and then, while attempting to flee, backed up into the Good Samaritan who stopped to help her, severing his foot.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney emphasized the serious consequences of Mkrtchian's actions, vowing to hold her accountable. Mkrtchian was arrested with no injuries and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. She has been arraigned and is under supervised release, with her driving privileges suspended. Mkrtchian's next court date is set for March 11, 2025.
