WADING RIVER MAN SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING HIS GRANDDAUGHTER

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that a 69-year-old man from Wading River was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing his granddaughter over several years, starting when she was seven. The abuse occurred between fall 2017 and March 2021, and the victim reported it to her mother in July 2022. Following the disclosure, the police arrested the defendant, who admitted to the abuse. He pleaded guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct in the First Degree, Course of Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The case was handled by Assistant District Attorneys and investigated by the Suffolk County Police Department's Special Victims Section. The defendant’s name was withheld to protect the victim’s identity.
